Do you understand how your dog’s mind works? What her needs are? How she
communicates?
Dogs are instinctively pack animals that communicate with one another through energy. When humans try to communicate with dogs as if they are smaller, cuter, furrier humans, they see us as weak energy, become unbalanced, and therefore don’t feel safe. When they don’t feel safe, they act out
If we want our dogs to listen to us, we have to be respectful of who they are as a species and fulfill their instinctual needs for peace and balance. The best way to fulfill their instinctual needs is for the human to be the Pack Leader. Pack Leaders
provide direction, security and the sense of belonging that keeps them in balance.
Being a Pack Leader doesn’t mean you have
to be forceful and demanding, or scold the dog to get him to listen. Pack Leaders are confident, calm, patient and understanding. They have the skills to manage their own energy and recognize how their energy influences their dog’s behavior. When your dog has this kind
of Pack Leader, he will work to please you.
To your dog, being part of a pack is a natural way to live. She relies on her Pack Leader for guidance, and instinctively mirrors the Pack Leader’s energy. If the Pack Leader’s energy
is weak, out of balance, or missing, your dog will take that role herself and exhibit undesirable behavior.
The good news is your dog wants a Pack Leader and wants to please you. At Paw Mind Body, we can teach you to be the Pack Leader your dog needs.
